Article X

  • personal-branding

Hi,

I'm Brandon.

Letter X. On a treasure map, it marks the spot. On a contract, it solidifies agreement. In math, it symbolises the unknown, and in Roman numerals it represents 10. Yes, the number ten. And guess what, this is my tenth article on the blog.

The vision

The day I chose to write, I was driven by the desire to share more about tech, ideas and what happens around me. In equal proportions. The blog was meant to be more than just a portal into my world - it was also meant to serve as a glimpse to my mind. The thought process behind every idea. The idea behind every concept I applied (or more accurately, tried to apply). I was supposed to unpack tech from my lenses, and share ideas from my unconventional-at-times mind. A place where street education met book-smart or somewhere along the lines.

What came to be

Then one article unpacked experiences, the next was a thought shrouded by experiences, then reflection on experiences, and before I knew it, I was playing Sherlock Holmes to all that happened before. In my own words, an astronomer connecting his path through the stars, reliving the moments he architected his fall and rise (more like spikes at best - momentary fluctuations). What was supposed to be an equilibrium became an imbalance of experiences (I suspect that instead of therapy I blog). And somehow, I loved it. Then a friend read, and loved it. And another one.

Back to article X

So I celebrate my tenth article - article X. Actually, it's my twelfth, but two are still incomplete, so technically it's ten, and all I have is wonder and questions for you. When you read (stuff in brackets, do you feel? Do you hear my voice reciting this? What voice do you give me). When I started blogging, I never saw myself get to article X (I am the guy who started a blog post that ended up having 4 episodes). So you see why this is a big deal to me.

Article X ++

What happens next? Well, the blog is shaping to be something that I don't fully grasp yet. I am attracted to writing on tech but not as a regular thought leader. I want to say something meaningful without being the boring kind of serious. I just want the thoughts to unravel as they come. If you came expecting a blog full of practical tech concepts, tips and thoughts - I apologise for letting you down. Unapologetically so. Maybe because there is a need for at least one voice that is not focused on telling you what to do - or ten things I learnt. One voice, shaky, boldly saying, hey buddy, I might be wrong, but here is what I think.
